Communion/Gratitude Discussion

  • Pass the bread and juice to everyone at the table

  • This time of year tends to cause us to pause and think on the things we are grateful & thankful for. It is a season where we are more aware of the things we have, both the tangible and intangible things.

  • Gratitude and Thankfulness are important ways we worship Jesus. All over the Bible are passages that describe how the posture of our lives toward God should be one of gratitude for all good things come from him.

  • All month we will be worshiping through Gratitude & Thankfulness. As we think of our lives, let’s chose to find ways to show gratitude to King Jesus!

At your Tables:

  • Begin to work your way through the list below, answering what you are grateful for in each question.

    • What is a song you are grateful for?

    • What is a smell you love?

    • What is a memory you are grateful for?

    • What season do you love? 

    • What is something you are grateful for about where you live?

    • A person in your family you are grateful for?

    • Something in nature you love?

    • What is something that made you laugh?

    • A life lesson you are grateful you learned

    • A book, podcast, etc. you are thankful for?

  • Take a minute and write 1 card to someone you are grateful for. Tell them why you are grateful for them. Either deliver it to them this week or send it to them in the mail.

    Read Colossians 3:12-15 Together

    • What are the main ideas you hear in this passage?

    • There are 10 things Paul calls the church to be. What are they?

    • The final thing he tells them is to be thankful. It kind of feels like he tacks it on at the very end, like he forgot about it.

    • Why would it be important to add “thankfulness” at the end of a list that includes, compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, patience and love?

    • how will you show gratitude this month?

    • Someone at the table pray and take communion together
