Beliefs

We believe in one God, who co-exists as God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. All-powerful, He is our loving creator. All-knowing, He is the perfect judge. Ever-present, He is our Father who pursues us. (Gen 1:1, 2; Exodus 34:6, 7; Psalm 139; Isa. 44:6; Matt. 18:12-14; John 1:1, John 3:16)

We believe Jesus is the Son of God, fully God and fully human. He was born of a virgin, lived a perfect life, died on the cross for our sins, raised from the dead on the third day, ascended to heaven, and will return again in power and glory (John 1:1-5, Gen 1:1, Isa 9:6, Matt 1:18-25, 1 Peter 2:24, Eph 1:7, Lk 24:6, Acts 1:9, John 14:6, 1 Cor  15:13, 1 Pet 4:5).

We believe the Holy Spirit dwells within every follower of Jesus in order to counsel, equip, empower, guide, and transform each believer into the likeness of Jesus. The Holy Spirit gives spiritual gifts to mature and build up the church for the work of God in the world (2 Cor. 3:17, Jn 14, 16, Acts 2:38, Rom 8, Gal 5).

We believe that the Bible is true, inspired and handed down to us by the Holy Spirit, and the authority against which we test all other claims that God has spoken. It is relational in the invitation for us to engage in its interpretation and application as a necessary tool for living a Christian life, just as the authors engaged in its creation. (Ps 1; Ps. 19:7-11; Ps. 119; 2 Tim 3:16, 17; Heb 4:12)

We believe salvation is a gift from God, and a deep reflection of his grace and mercy towards us. By placing our faith in God’s great work through Jesus Christ, we are saved from our past, set free in the present, and given hope for the future. As a response to God’s love towards us in Jesus, we respond in obedience to Him through baptism. God’s work through Jesus alone is our hope (Rom 3:23, Eph 2:8, Rom 6:23, Acts 2:38, Titus 3:5).

We believe Jesus is the head of the church. The church is the body of Christ, called by God, and sent by God to bless the world and bring glory to God (Ezekiel 47, Eph 1:22-23, Eph 5, Matt 16, Matt 28).

Values

belonging

We belong to God and to one another. Missio is a place of belonging for all people, no matter your background, struggles, or beliefs. Wherever you are on your journey, you belong here. (Gal. 3:28; Rom. 14: 7-9)

simplicity

Our church is driven by intentional simplicity that allows the gospel to present itself in its clearest and most powerful way. (Matt. 22:36-40; 28:18-20)

creativity

We believe in creative design to discover and glorify God and do good works. We have been given access to God’s limitless creativity as displayed in the world and inherited by us who were made in his image. (Heb. 11 & 12; Ex. 35:31-32)

movement

Jesus constantly sent people out on mission in the world. Missio means “sending out,” an identity we hope to embody as we follow his call to intentional movement into the spaces that need an encounter with him. (Matt. 28: 18-20; Phil. 2: 5-11)
