Call To Worship:

Exodus 34:5-7

The Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there and proclaimed the name, “The Lord.” 6 The Lord passed before him and proclaimed,“The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness,7 keeping steadfast love for the thousandth generation, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, yet by no means leaving the guilty unpunished.”

Songs:

Be Thou My Vision

Verse 1

Be Thou my Vision O Lord of my heart

Naught be all else to me save that Thou art

Thou my best thought by day or by night

Waking or sleeping Thy presence my light

Verse 2

Be Thou my Wisdom and Thou my true Word

I ever with Thee and Thou with me Lord

Thou my great Father I Thy true son

Thou in me dwelling and I with Thee one

Verse 3

High King of heaven my victory won

May I reach heaven's joys bright heaven's Sun

Heart of my own heart whatever befall

Still be my Vision O Ruler of all

Amazing Grace

Verse 1

Amazing grace how sweet the sound

That saved a wretch like me

I once was lost but now am found

Was blind but now I see

Verse 2

'Twas grace that taught my heart to fear

And grace my fears relieved

How precious did that grace appear

The hour I first believed

Verse 3

The Lord has promised good to me

His Word my hope secures

He will my shield and portion be

As long as life endures

Verse 4

Through many dangers toils and snares

I have already come

'Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far

And grace will lead me home

Verse 5

When we've been there ten thousand years

Bright shining as the sun

We've no less days to sing God's praise

Than when we first begun

Spirit Fall

Spirit Fall on us like the rain

Holy Spirit blow on us like the wind

Holy Spirit shine on us like the sun, like the sun

Sanctify and heal us, make us one.

Lord Prepare me, to be a sanctuary

Pure and holy, tried and true

And with Thanksgiving, I’ll be a living

Sanctuary for you.

We exalt Thee, we exalt Thee

We exalt Thee, Oh Lord (repeat)

For Thou oh Lord art high above all the earth

Thou Art exampled far above all Gods (repeat)

Teaching: Holy Spirit: Transformation

Exodus 33:18, “please show me your glory.”

  • ancient Hebrew idiom meaning “Show me your face”

“Glory”= Kabod (pronounced KAVOD) in Hebrew

Kabod meant:

  1. splendor

  2. character

  3. honor

  4. radiance

  5. reputation

  6. goodness

  7. holiness.

“Show me your face (Kabod)” meant “show me the depths of your character, your honor, your purpose, your goodness, your holiness and radiance.”

2 Corinthians 3:7-18

“Now if the ministry of death, chiseled in letters on stone tablets, came in glory so that the people of Israel could not gaze at Moses’s face because of the glory of his face, a glory now set aside, 8 how much more will the ministry of the Spirit come in glory? 9 For if there was glory in the ministry of condemnation, much more does the ministry of justification abound in glory! 10 Indeed, what once had glory has in this respect lost its glory because of the greater glory, 11 for if what was set aside came through glory, much more has the permanent come in glory!

12 Since, then, we have such a hope, we act with complete frankness, 13 not like Moses, who put a veil over his face to keep the people of Israel from gazing at the end of the glory that was being set aside. 14 But their minds were hardened. Indeed, to this very day, when they hear the reading of the old covenant, the same veil is still there; it is not unveiled since in Christ it is set aside. 15 Indeed, to this very day whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their minds, 16 but when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.18 And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another, for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit.”

Come Just As you Are

Come just as you are

Hear the Spirit call

Come just as you are

Come and see,

Come receive

Come and live forever

Life everlasting

And strength for today

Taste the Living Water

And never thirst again

Communion:

  • Head up to the front to take communion.

  • Once you take communion head back to your seat and reflect and pray over the following questions:

    • Where have you seen change in you because of the Spirit?

    • What area of your life do you long to see more transformation?

Benediction:

Move among us, Spirit,
and gather us together with you.
Take our many selves—
our lives, our loves, our ideas,
our questions, our speech, our silence—
and unite us as your people.
Give us the gifts of presence, transformation and guidance,
so that even as we dream your dreams and see your visions,
we may be able to witness to your presence
in our common life.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.—(2 Corinthians 13:14)

Amen.
