King of My Heart

Verse 1

Let the King of my heart

Be the mountain where I run

The fountain I drink from

Oh He is my song

Let the King of my heart

Be the shadow where I hide

The ransom for my life

Oh He is my song

Chorus 1

You are good good oh

You are good good oh

You are good good oh

You are good good oh

Verse 2

Let the King of my heart

Be the wind inside my sails

The anchor in the waves

Oh He is my song

Let the King of my heart

Be the fire inside my veins

The echo of my days

Oh He is my song

Call To Worship:

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

4 Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable; it keeps no record of wrongs; 6 it does not rejoice in wrongdoing but rejoices in the truth. 7 It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never ends.

Songs

Come All Who are Weary

[Verse 1]
Come all who are weary
I will give you rest
Come all who are striving
Lean upon my breast

For my yoke is easy
And my burden light
O come all who are weary, come

[Verse 2]
Come all who are wounded
Crying out “How long?”
Come all who are waiting
For the break of dawn

Darkness will not hide me
Forever from your sight
O come all who are wounded, come

[Verse 3]
Come all who are weeping
All whose hope is gone
Come all who are silent
All who’ve lost their song

Your every tear is numbered
Your every sorrow known
O come all who are weeping, come

[Close]
O come all who are weary
Wounded and weeping
All of God’s children, come

Oh God

Teaching: Holy Spirit: Guidance- Why Do We Get Spiritual Gifts?

Spiritual Formation: “Our continuing response to the reality of God’s grace, shaping us into the likeness of Jesus Christ, through the work of the Holy Spirit, in the community of faith, for the sake of the world.”

1 Corinthians 12:1-13
Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. 2 You know that when you were Gentiles, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. 3 Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.

4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work.

7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues.11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines. 12 For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For in the one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.

1 John 4:8
“whoever does not love does not know God for God IS Love.”

1 Corinthians 13:1-13
“If I speak in the tongues of humans and of angels but do not have love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 And if I have prophetic powers and understand all mysteries and all knowledge and if I have all faith so as to remove mountains but do not have love, I am nothing. 3 If I give away all my possessions and if I hand over my body so that I may boast but do not have love, I gain nothing. But as for prophecies, they will come to an end; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will come to an end. 9 For we know only in part, and we prophesy only in part, 10 but when the complete comes, the partial will come to an end. 11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became an adult, I put an end to childish ways. 12 For now we see only a reflection, as in a mirror, but then we will see face to face. Now I know only in part; then I will know fully, even as I have been fully known. 13 And now faith, hope, and love remain, these three, and the greatest of these is love.”

Good to Me

I can taste the sweetness of your mercy
And I feel the sting of grief still in my chest
Not sure I’ve known the one without the other
I will cling to the belief I know the best

You have been
You will be
You are so
Good to me

I reach out my hand in hopes you’ll hold on
But time and time again find empty space
So I will keep them open, though they’re shaking
And call to mind the time I felt the grip of grace

You have been
You will be
You are still
Here with mе

You have been
You will be
You are still
Hеre with me

(oo-oo-oo-oo-ooh
Oo-ooh)

(oo-ooh
Oo-ooh)

You have been
You will be
You are so
Good to me

Communion:

  • Head up to the front to take communion.

  • Return to your seat and reflect on the following questions:

    • Where have you seen the Gifts of the Spirit being lived out and experienced in your life? Maybe for a moment, or a season, or over the course of your life?

    • How are you being used to lift up and grow the body of Christ?

    • How is the Spirit growing you in love?

Benediction:

Move among us, Spirit,
and gather us together with you.
Take our many selves—
our lives, our loves, our ideas,
our questions, our speech, our silence—
and unite us as your people.
Give us the gifts of presence, transformation and guidance,
so that even as we dream your dreams and see your visions,
we may be able to witness to your presence
in our common life.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.—(2 Corinthians 13:14)

Amen.
