Call To Worship:
Matthew 3:16-17
16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son,whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
Songs:
Beautiful
I see Your face in every sunrise
The colors of the morning are inside Your eyes The world awakens in the light of the day
I look up to the sky and say
You’re beautiful
I see Your power in the moonlit night
Where planets are in motion and galaxies are bright We are amazed in the light of the stars
It’s all proclaiming who You are
You’re beautiful, You're beautiful
I see you there hanging on a tree
You bled and then you died and then you rose again for me Now you are sitting on Your heavenly throne
Soon we will be coming home
You’re beautiful, you're beautiful
When we arrive at eternity’s shore
Where death is just a memory and tears are no more
We’ll enter in as the wedding bells ring
Your bride will come together and we’ll sing You’re beautiful, You're beautiful, You're beautiful
I see Your face, You're beautiful, You're beautiful, You're beautiful I see Your face, You're beautiful, You're beautiful, You're beautiful
Goodness of God
Intro:
I love You Lord, oh Your mercy never fails me
All my days I've been held in Your hands
From the moment that I wake up until I lay my head I will sing of the goodness of God
All my life You have been faithful
All my life You have been so so good With every breath that I am able
I will sing of the goodness of God
I love Your voice You have led me through the fire
In darkest night You are close like no other
I've known You as a father I've known You as a friend I have lived in the goodness of God
Your goodness is running after, it’s running after me
Your goodness is running after, It’s running after me
With my life laid down, I’m surrendered now, I give You everything Your goodness is running after it's running after me

Before I spoke a word You were singing over me
You have been so so good to me
Before I took a breath You breathed Your life in me
You have been so so kind to me
Chorus 1
O the overwhelming never-ending reckless
Love of God
O it chases me down fights 'til I'm found
Leaves the ninety-nine

Still You give Yourself away
O the overwhelming never-ending reckless
Love of God

You have been so so kind to me

Mountain You won't climb up
Coming after me
There's no wall You won't kick down
Lie You won't tear down
Coming after me
Teaching: Holy Spirit: Images of the Spirit
Acts 2:1-2,
“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.”
Genesis 2:7
“Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.”
Matthew 3:11
“I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”
John 7:37-39
37 On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” 39 By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive.”
Joel 2:28-29
28 “And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions. 29 Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days.”
Matthew 3:16-17
16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
Breath Prayer:
Inhale: Holy Spirit,
Exhale: Breathe new life into me.
Family Prayer:
Younger:
Dear God, your Holy Spirit is a gift for all who believe.
Thank you for that gift. We can’t see you or smell you
or touch you, but we still believe that you are here,
surrounding us and guiding us.
We celebrate that the family of Christ is like a giant
parade full of people who are different but also united in you.
Help us to celebrate the ways we are both alike and different.
Amen
Older:
O God, we thank you for the Holy Spirit. Breathe new life into Your
church, our family, and our hearts. Help us to live into who You’ve called
us to be. Thank you for the sacred differences you’ve given the family of believers.
May we declare your wonders, as the first church did long ago.
Help us to celebrate in one accord. Unite us in your peace.
Guide us in your power. And send us out in our native tongue….Love.
Amen.
Communion:
Head up to the front to take communion.
Return to your seat and reflect on the following questions:
What image most comes to mind for you when you think of the Holy Spirit?
Why this particular image?
What does this image tell you about the work of the Holy Spirit in your life?
Benediction:
Move among us, Spirit,
and gather us together with you.
Take our many selves—
our lives, our loves, our ideas,
our questions, our speech, our silence—
and unite us as your people.
Give us the gifts of presence, transformation and guidance,
so that even as we dream your dreams and see your visions,
we may be able to witness to your presence
in our common life.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.—(2 Corinthians 13:14)
Amen.
