Worship/Kids/Hospitality Teams:

  • We have 3 teams we will be forming during September to help plug everyone into serving on Sundays as well to help spread the work of making Sundays happen to all of us. These teams are:

    • Worship: We will have a rotation of people helping lead music and songs. If you want to be a part of that please let Jared know.

    • Kids: We have a growing kids demographic at Missio which is awesome. Laura has put together a great plan for how kids will be taught and how to volunteer to help teach classes. Reach out to Laura to know more about that.

    • Hospitality: Each Sunday we need help with a few set up items like Communion Bread or Coffee. Also this team will help greet people at the door and help be responsible to tear things down at the end of worship.

Songs:

Be Thou My Vision

Verse 1

Be Thou my vision O Lord of my heart

Naught be all else to me save that Thou art

Thou my best thought by day or by night

Waking or sleeping Thy presence my light

Verse 2

Be Thou my wisdom and Thou my true word

I ever with Thee and Thou with me Lord

Thou my great Father I Thy true son

Thou in me dwelling and I with Thee one

Verse 3

Riches I heed not nor man's empty praise

Thou mine inheritance now and always

Thou and Thou only first in my heart

High King of heaven my treasure Thou art

Verse 4

Be my compassion my love for the poor

Break my distraction so I can't ignore

The least of Your children the ones You adore

For by them Jesus I worship You Lord

Before the Throne of God Above

Verse 1

Before the throne of God above

I have a strong and perfect plea

A great High Priest whose name is Love

Who ever lives and pleads for me

My name is graven on His hands

My name is written on His heart

I know that while in heav'n He stands

No tongue can bid me thence depart

No tongue can bid me thence depart

Verse 2

When Satan tempts me to despair

And tells me of the guilt within

Upward I look and see Him there

Who made an end to all my sin

Because the sinless Saviour died

My sinful soul is counted free

For God the Just is satisfied

To look on Him and pardon me

To look on Him and pardon me

Verse 3

Behold Him there the risen Lamb

My perfect spotless righteousness

The great unchangeable I Am

The King of glory and of grace

One with Himself I cannot die

My soul is purchased by His blood

My life is hid with Christ on high

With Christ my Saviour and my God

With Christ my Saviour and my God

Verse 4

I bow before the cross of Christ

And marvel at this love divine

God's perfect Son was sacrificed

To make me righteous in God's eyes

This river's depths I cannot know

But I can glory in its flood

The Lord Most High has bowed down low

And poured on me His glorious love

And poured on me His glorious love

How Deep The Father’s Love For us

Verse 1

How deep the Father's love for us

How vast beyond all measure

That He should give His only Son

To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss

The Father turns His face away

As wounds which mar the Chosen One

Bring many sons to glory

Verse 2

Behold the Man upon a cross

My sin upon His shoulders

Ashamed I hear my mocking voice

Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that held Him there

Until it was accomplished

His dying breath has brought me life

I know that it is finished

Verse 3

I will not boast in anything

No gifts no pow’r no wisdom

But I will boast in Jesus Christ

His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward

I cannot give an answer

But this I know with all my heart

His wounds have paid my ransom

Our God Is An Awesome God

Chorus 1

Our God is an awesome God

He reigns from heaven above

With wisdom pow'r and love

Our God is an awesome God

Verse 1

When He rolls up His sleeves

He ain't just puttin' on the ritz

Our God is an awesome God

There is thunder in His footsteps

And lightning in His fists

Our God is an awesome God

And the Lord wasn't joking

When He kicked 'em out of Eden

It wasn't for no reason

That He shed His blood

His return is very close

And so you'd better be believin'

That our God is an awesome God

Verse 2

When the sky was starless

In the void of the night

Our God is an awesome God

He spoke into the darkness

And created the light

Our God is an awesome God

Judgment and wrath

He poured out on Sodom

Mercy and grace

He gave us at the cross

I hope that we have not

Too quickly forgotten

That our God is an awesome God

Teaching: What if Jesus was Serious Abt Prayer: Participation

Acts 1:4-8 says,

“While staying with them, he ordered them not to leave Jerusalem but to wait there for the promise of the Father. “This,” he said, “is what you have heard from me; 5 for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6 So when they had come together, they asked him, “Lord, is this the time when you will restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He replied, “It is not for you to know the times or periods that the Father has set by his own authority. 8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

1 Corinthians 3:5-8

“What then is Apollos? What is Paul? Servants through whom you came to believe, as the Lord assigned to each. 6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth. 7 So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God who gives the growth. 8 The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and each will receive wages according to their own labor. 9 For we are God’s coworkers, working together; you are God’s field, God’s building.”

Philippians 2:12-13

“Therefore, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed me, not only in my presence but much more now in my absence, work on your own salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who is at work in you, enabling you both to will and to work for his good pleasure.”

Micah 6:8

“He has told you, O mortal, what is good and what does the lord require of you but to do justice and to love kindness and to walk humbly with our God.”

Communion:

  • What does participating in the activity of God look like in your life?

  • When you think about the natural rhythms of your life, how can you more intentionally use what you do to participate in bringing the goodness of God to the spaces and people around you?

  • Pray for a more holistic and full understanding of your participation within the activity of God.

Benediction:

May the beauty of God be reflected in your eyes,
the love of God be reflected in your hands,
the wisdom of God be reflected in your words,
and the knowledge of God flow from your heart,
that all might see, and seeing, find peace in Jesus.

“The Lord bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;
the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace. ”
(Numbers 6:24-26)

Amen
