#thisischurch

how do we walk through this health crisis together as a church, community, and city?

We are in the midst of an unprecedented season due to the COVID-19 health crisis. The disruption caused by this turn of events is effecting lives all over the world. In the midst of the fear and chaos is the opportunity and challenge for us to pursue being God’s church in the world in ways that might be outside the norm of traditional church. Scripture describes church, not as a Sunday morning with 5 songs and a sermon, but as a group of people who learn and teach together, who pray, share, eat, care, and praise together, whether two people or a crowd. This is a time to share and care in radical ways, to praise, learn, and teach in new ways, and to pray fervently and faithfully. Each week we will be providing direction and resources to lead our community in different expressions of church, whether that be worshiping from home or meeting the needs that are arising daily in our city. We understand that this will mean some uncertainty, and so we want to leave you with encouragement and a reminder; You all have been a part of Missio in the most uncertain moments of our story. The unknown is where we have tended to live and where God has done his best work through us. We eagerly await His movement.

As of now, we will not be meeting at the Northgate Community Center for the foreseeable future. This is a fluid situation and we will continue to monitor it as it progresses. We want to reassure you that we are not frustrated by this decision not to meet. Instead, we are excited for the reminder (and challenge) that church is not the sum of Sunday mornings. Church is the people of God living out the mission of God, and that cannot be disrupted by a lack of Sunday gatherings.

We love you all and are praying for each of you, for our community, our city, and our world. We invite you to join us in this prayer. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to connect with us directly.
