Call to Worship

Mark 11:7-10,

7 Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it, and he sat on it. 8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread palm branches that they had cut in the fields. 9 Then those who went ahead and those who followed were shouting,“Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! 10 Blessed is the coming kingdom of our ancestor David!Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

Songs

Holy Forever

A thousand generations falling down in worship
To sing the song of ages to the Lamb

And all who've gone before us, and all who will believe

Will sing the song of ages to the Lamb
Your name is the highest
Your name is the greatest
Your name stands above them all
All thrones and dominions
All powers and positions

Your name stands above them all

And the angels cry, "Holy"

All Creation cries, "Holy"

You are lifted high, holy

Holy forever

If you've been forgiven, if you've been redeemed

Sing the song forever to the Lamb

If you walk in freedom, if you bear His name

Sing the song forever to the Lamb

We'll sing the song forever and amen

And the angels cry, "Holy"

All Creation cries, "Holy"

You are lifted high, holy

Holy forever

Hear Your people sing, "Holy"

To the King of kings, holy

You will always be holy

Holy forever

And the angels cry, "Holy"

All Creation cries, "Holy"

You are lifted high, holy

Holy forever

Hear Your people sing, "Holy"

To the King of kings, holy

You will always be holy

Holy forever
And the angels cry, "Holy"

All Creation cries, "Holy"

You are lifted high, holy

Holy forever

Hear Your people sing, "Holy"

To the King of kings, holy

You will always be holy

Holy forever

Goodness of God

I love You, Lord

For Your mercy never fails me

All my days, I've been held in Your hands

From the moment that I wake up

Until I lay my head

Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God

'Cause all my life You have been faithful

And all my life You have been so, so good

With every breath that I am able

Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God

I love Your voice

You have led me through the fire

In darkest night You are close like no other

I've known You as a Father

I've known You as a Friend

And I have lived in the goodness of God, yeah

'Cause all my life You have been faithful, oh yes You have

And all my life You have been so, so good

With every breath that I am able

Oh, I will sing of the goodness of God

Your goodness is running after, it's running after me

Your goodness is running after, it's running after me

With my life laid down, I surrendered now

I give You everything, oh Lord
Your goodness is running after, it's running after me

Your goodness is running after, it's running after me (oh yeah, oh yeah)

Your goodness is running after, it's running after me

With my life laid down, I surrendered now

I give You everything

Your goodness is running after, it keeps running after me

And all my life You have been faithful

And all my life You have been so, so good

With every breath that I am able

Oh, I'm gonna sing of the goodness of God

I'm gonna sing

All my life You have been faithful

(All of my life You've been faithful)

All my life You have been so, so good

(So good with every breath)

every breath that I am able

(Every breath I'm able)

I will sing (I'm gonna sing)

Of the goodness (of the goodness of God, yes I am)

I'm gonna sing of the goodness of God

Oh, I'm gonna sing of the goodness of God

Your Glory/Nothing But the Blood

My life is yours, and my hope is in you only
And my heart you hold, Cause you made this sinner holy

Your glory is so beautiful, I fall onto my knees in awe
And the heartbeat of my life, is to worship in your light
Your glory is so beautiful, your glory is so beautiful

Glory glory hallelujah, Jesus you are good

Glory glory hallelujah, Jesus you are good

Glory glory hallelujah, Jesus you are good

Glory glory hallelujah, Jesus you are good

What can wash away my sin, Nothing by the blood of Jesus
What can make me whole again, Nothing but the blood of Jesus
Oh Precious is the flow, that makes me white as snow
No other fount I know, nothing by the blood of Jesus

Teaching: Daniel 9 & Palm Sunday

Daniel 9

In the first year of Darius son of Xerxes (a Mede by descent), who was made ruler over the Babylonian kingdom— 2 in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years. 3 So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.

Jeremiah 29:10-11

For thus says the Lord: Only when Babylon’s seventy years are completed will I visit you, and I will fulfill to you my promise and bring you back to this place. 11 For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with

Daniel 9

I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed:

“Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments, 5 we have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws. 6 We have not listened to your servants, the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes and our ancestors, and to all the people of the land. 7 “Lord, you are righteous, but this day we are covered with shame—the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, both near and far, in all the countries where you have scattered us because of our unfaithfulness to you. 8 We and our kings, our princes and our ancestors are covered with shame, Lord, because we have sinned against you. 9 The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him; 10 we have not obeyed the Lord our God or kept the laws he gave us through his servants the prophets. 11 All Israel has transgressed your law and turned away, refusing to obey you. “Therefore the curses and sworn judgments written in the Law of Moses, the servant of God, have been poured out on us, because we have sinned against you. 12 You have fulfilled the words spoken against us and against our rulers by bringing on us great disaster. Under the whole heaven nothing has ever been done like what has been done to Jerusalem. 13 Just as it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come on us, yet we have not sought the favor of the Lord our God by turning from our sins and giving attention to your truth. 14 The Lord did not hesitate to bring the disaster on us, for the Lord our God is righteous in everything he does;yet we have not obeyed him.

15 “Now, Lord our God, who brought your people out of Egypt with a mighty hand and who made for yourself a name that endures to this day, we have sinned, we have done wrong. 16 Lord, in keeping with all your righteous acts, turn away your anger and your wrath from Jerusalem, your city, your holy hill. Our sins and the iniquities of our ancestors have made Jerusalem and your people an object of scorn to all those around us.

17 “Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant. For your sake, Lord, look with favor on your desolate sanctuary. 18 Give ear, our God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. 19 Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act! For your sake, my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name.”

Zechariah 9:9-10

“Rejoice greatly O Daughter Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, triumphant and victorious is he, humble and riding on a donkey. He will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the war horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow shall be cut off, and he shall command peace to the nations; his dominion shall be from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth.

Mark 11

When they were approaching Jerusalem, at Bethphage and Bethany, near the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples 2 and said to them, “Go into the village ahead of you, and immediately as you enter it you will find tied there a colt that has never been ridden; untie it and bring it. 3 If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ just say this: ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here immediately.’ ” 4 They went away and found a colt tied near a door, outside in the street. As they were untying it, 5 some of the bystanders said to them, “What are you doing, untying the colt?” 6 They told them what Jesus had said, and they allowed them to take it.

7 Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it, and he sat on it. 8 Many people spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread palm branches that they had cut in the fields. 9 Then those who went ahead and those who followed were shouting,

“Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! 10 Blessed is the coming kingdom of our ancestor David! Hosanna in the highest heaven!” 11 Then he entered Jerusalem and went into the temple, and when he had looked around at everything, as it was already late,  he went out to Bethany with the twelve

Communion:

  • Head up to the front to take communion.

  • Head back to your seat and reflect on the following questions:

    • What does Hesed Love mean to you?

    • How do your prayers reflect God’s character, confess brokenness, and call God into action in the world?

    • How does Jesus’ triumphal entry moment impact your understanding of what he came to do in the world?

Benediction:

As we live as exiles in the world,

may we work for the welfare of our city,

lifting all things to God in prayer.

While we may encounter trials and tribulations,

let us remember who we belong to and where our faith lies.

Living lives allegiant to Jesus,

obedient to his ways,

and hopeful for his renewal of all things.

“Now to him who is able to keep you from falling

and to make you stand without blemish

in the presence of his glory with rejoicing,

to the only God our Savior,

through Jesus Christ our Lord,

be glory, majesty, power, and authority,

before all time and now and forever. Amen.” (Jude 1:24-25)
