Call To Worship:
Ephesians 2:19-22, "Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. Teaching: Holy Spirit: The Church as the New Temple
1 Corinthians 3:16-17,
"Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy that person; for God's temple is holy, and you are that temple."
Ephesians 2:19-22,
"Consequently, you are no longer foreigners and aliens, but fellow citizens with God’s people and members of God’s household, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by his Spirit."
1 Peter 2:5,
"You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ."
Genesis 1:27
“So God created humans in his image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.”
Matthew 21:12-17,
12 Then Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who were selling and buying in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. 13 He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you are making it a den of robbers.’ 14 The blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he cured them. 15 But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the amazing things that he did and heard the children crying out in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they became angry16 and said to him, “Do you hear what these are saying?” Jesus said to them, “Yes; have you never read, ‘Out of the mouths of infants and nursing babies you have prepared praise for yourself’?” 17 He left them, went out of the city to Bethany, and spent the night there.”
Psalm 150,
“Praise Yahweh. Praise God in his sanctuary. Praise him in his mighty firmament. Praise him for his mighty deeds. Praise him according to his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the trumpet sound. Praise him with the lute and harp. Praise him with the tambourine and dance. Praise him with clanging cymbals. Praise him with loud clashing cymbals. Let everything that breathes, praise Yahweh.
Numbers 6:24-27
“The Lord bless you and keep you; 25 the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; 26 the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. 27 “So they shall put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.”
Isaiah 2:2-5,
“In days to come the mountain of the Lord’s house shall be established as the highest of the mountains and shall be raised above the hills; all the nations shall stream to it. 3 Many peoples shall come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.”For out of Zion shall go forth instruction and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.4 He shall judge between the nations and shall arbitrate for many peoples; they shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation; neither shall they learn war any more. 5 O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the Lord!”
Soreg Inscription:
“No Foreigner is to enter the barriers surrounding the sanctuary. He who is caught will have himself to blame for his death, which WILL follow.”
Ephesians 2:14-16
14 For he is our peace; in his flesh he has made both into one and has broken down the DIVIDING WALL, that is, the hostility between us, 15 abolishing the law with its commandments and ordinances, that he might create in himself one new humanity in place of the two, thus making peace, 16 and might reconcile both to God in one body through the cross, thus putting to death that hostility through it.”
Communion:
Head up to the front to take communion.
Once you take communion head back to your seat. and reflect on the following questions:
How are we portraying the presence of God to one another?
How are we portraying the presence of God to the people around us?
Do we live our lives with the purpose of God’s dwelling place on earth? As the invitation of God to the world?
What does that even look like?
Benediction:
Move among us, Spirit,
and gather us together with you.
Take our many selves—
our lives, our loves, our ideas,
our questions, our speech, our silence—
and unite us as your people.
Give us the gifts of presence, transformation and guidance,
so that even as we dream your dreams and see your visions,
we may be able to witness to your presence
in our common life.
The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.—(2 Corinthians 13:14)
Amen.
