Call To Worship:

Psalm 118:1-4

1 O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
    his steadfast love endures forever!

2 Let Israel say,
    “His steadfast love endures forever.”

3 Let the house of Aaron say,
    “His steadfast love endures forever.”

4 Let those who fear the Lord say,
    “His steadfast love endures forever.”

Songs:

New Every Morning

You are not what you have done
Or what has been done to you
You are something like the rising sun
Can't you see that you are new

You might have your father’s name
Or bear the shame he left behind
But there's new life flowing through your veins
Leave some room to be surprised

You are new every morning
You are new every morning
Each day a resurrection waiting to break through

You could try just for a start
To put the judge back on thе shelf
All the lovingkindness in your hеart
Have a little for yourself

You are new every morning
You are new every morning
Each day a resurrection waiting to break through
You are new

You think hope is lost but it's just underground
The flame might be an ember but the fire won’t go out
All the evidence is pointing to the truth
That daily resurrection is still happening in you
You are new every morning
You are new every morning
Each day a resurrection waiting to break through
You are new

Like a Tree

Blessed is the one who loves Your word
Your ways are his delight
He knows that he needs it
Eat, sleeps, and breathes it
Thinking on it day and night

But sad for the one who walks away
Sits down with all the scoffers
Building his kingdom, calling it freedom
Chasing after what the world offers

I wanna be like a tree by the river (tree by the river)
Oh, plant me down by the deep, deep water (deep, deep water)
When the sun gets hot, my leaves won't wither (leaves won't wither)
Oh, plant me down like a tree by the river
Oh, plant me down by Your deep, deep water

I wanna be like a mighty oak
Roots growing strong and deep
When the wind blows, the roots gonna hold
'Cause You're holding on to me
Yeah, You're holding on to me, yeah

I wanna be like a tree by the river (tree by the river)
Oh, plant me down by the deep, deep water (deep, deep water)
When the sun gets hot, my leaves won't wither (leaves won't wither)
Oh, plant me down like a tree by the river
Oh, plant me down by Your deep, deep water

Plant me, plant me, plant me by the river
Wash me, wash me, wash me with Your water
Plant me, plant me, plant me by the river
Wash me, wash me, wash me with Your water

Plant me, plant me, plant me by the river
Wash me, wash me, wash me with Your water
Plant me, plant me, plant me by the river
Wash me, wash me, wash me with Your water

I wanna be like a tree by the river (tree by the river)
Plant me down by the deep, deep water (hmm)
When the sun gets hot, my leaves won't wither (leaves won't wither)
Oh, plant me down like a tree by the river
Oh, plant me down by Your deep, deep water

Let's go to the river

Let's go to the water

Good To Me

I can taste the sweetness of your mercy
And I feel the sting of grief still in my chest
Not sure I’ve known the one without the other
I will cling to the belief I know the best

You have been
You will be
You are so
Good to me

I reach out my hand in hopes you’ll hold on
But time and time again find empty space
So I will keep them open, though they’re shaking
And call to mind the time I felt the grip of grace

Teaching: Fruit of the Spirit: Goodness

Galatians 5:22-26

22 By contrast, the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against such things. 24 And those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also be guided by the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, competing against one another, envying one another.

Communion:

  • Head up to the front to take communion.

  • Once you take communion head back to your seat and reflect on the following question:

    • In what way does this meal declare to the church the goodness of God through Jesus Christ?

By My Side

O my friend just stay with me
Stay with me
Stay with me

O my friend just stay with me
by my side

O my friend just weep with me
weep with me
weep with me

O my friend just weep with me
By my side

Wherever I go, by my side
above and below, by my side
You know my faith gets low
when the waters rise
Please be by my side

Hold my hand and walk with me
walk with me
walk with me

Hold my hand and walk with me
by my side

Wherever I go, by my side
above and below, by my side
You know my faith gets low
when the waters rise
Please be by my side

Benediction:

Move among us, Spirit,
and gather us together with you.
Take our many selves—
our lives, our loves, our ideas,
our questions, our speech, our silence—
and unite us as your people.
Give us the gifts of presence, transformation and guidance,
so that even as we dream your dreams and see your visions,
we may be able to witness to your presence
in our common life.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.—(2 Corinthians 13:14)

Amen.
