Call To Worship:

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12,

”9 Two are better than one because they have a good reward for their toil. 10 For if they fall, one will lift up the other, but woe to one who is alone and falls and does not have another to help. 11 Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? 12 And though one might prevail against another, two will withstand one. A threefold cord is not quickly broken.”

Songs:

You Hold it All

God we bring you the work of our hands now
Lay it down, lay it at your feet
What we’ve done, what we’ve built, what we’ve broken
Lay it down, lay it at your feet

Chorus
You hold it all
Jesus, you hold it all

Verse 2
Worried hearts, wearied hands, weakened bodies
Lay it down, lay it at your feet
What we’ve used, what we’ve lost, what we’ve wasted
lay it down, lay it at your feet

Chorus
You hold it all
Jesus, you hold it all

Verse 3
All our plans, all our dreams, our ambitions
lay them down, lay them at your feet
And even if nothing comes to fruition
Lay it down lay it at your feet
Lay it down lay it at your feet

Chorus
You hold it all
Jesus, you hold it all

You Are So Good to Me

I can taste the sweetness of your mercy
but I feel the sting of grief still in my chest.
Not sure I’ve known the one without the other
I will cling to the belief I know the best

You have been

You will be

You are so good to me

I reach out my hand in hopes you’ll hold on
But time and time again find empty space
So I will keep them open though they’re shaking
and call to mind the time I’ve felt the grip of grace

You have been

You will be

You are still here with me

You have been

You will be

You are still here with me

Like a Tree

Blessed is the one who loves your word
Your ways are his delight
Knows that he needs it, eat sleeps and breathes it
Thinkin on it day and night

But sad for the one who walks away
Sits down with all the scoffers
Building his kingdom, callin it freedom
Chasing after what the world offers

Chorus
I want to like a tree by the river!
Oh plant me down by the deep deep waters
When the sun gets hot my leaves won’t wither
Oh plant me down by the deep deep waters

I want to be like a mighty oak
Roots growing strong and deep
When the wind blows, the roots gonna hold
Cause you’re holding on to me
Yeah you’re holding on to me

Chorus
I want to like a tree by the river!
Oh plant me down by the deep deep waters
When the sun gets hot my leaves won’t wither
Oh plant me down by the deep deep waters

Bridge
Plant me, plant me, plant me by the river
Wash me, wash me, wash me with your water

Chorus
I want to like a tree by the river!
Oh plant me down by the deep deep waters
When the sun gets hot my leaves won’t wither
Oh plant me down by the deep deep waters

Let’s Go to the River
Let’s go to the water

By My Side

O my friend just stay with me
Stay with me
Stay with me

O my friend jus stay with me
by my side

O my friend just weep with me
weep with me
weep with me

O my friend just weep with me
By my side

Wherever I go, by my side
above and below, by my side
You know my faith gets low
when the waters rise
Please be by my side

Hold my hand and walk with me
walk with me
walk with me

Hold my hand and walk with me
by my side

Wherever I go, by my side
above and below, by my side
You know my faith gets low
when the waters rise
Please be by my side

Teaching: Holy Spirit: Judges- Samson

Judges 21:25

25 In those days there was no king in Israel; all the people did what was right in their own eyes.

Judges 13:4-5

“Now be careful not to drink wine or strong drink or to eat anything unclean, 5 for you shall conceive and bear a son. No razor is to come on his head, for the boy shall be a nazirite to God from birth. It is he who shall begin to deliver Israel from the hand of the Philistines.”

Judges 13:24-25

The woman bore a son and named him Samson. The boy grew, and the Lord blessed him. 25 The spirit of the Lord began to stir him in Mahaneh-dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.”

Judges 14:3

“Is there not a woman among your kin or among all our people, that you must go to take a wife from the uncircumcised Philistines?”

Judges 14:6

“the Spirit of the Lord rushed on him and he tore the lion apart barehanded as one might tear apart a kid.”

Judges 14:16

“So Samson’s wife wept before him, saying, “You hate me; you do not really love me. You have asked a riddle of my people, but you have not explained it to me.” He said to her, “Look, I have not told my father or my mother. Why should I tell you?”

Judges 16:28

“Then Samson called to the Lord and said “Lord God, remember me and strengthen me only this once, O God, so that with this one act of revenge I may pay back the Philistines for my two eyes.”

Communion:

  • Head up to the front to take communion.

  • Once you take communion head back to your seat and reflect on the following questions:

    • What choices do we need to make this week to allow the Spirit to do his work within our lives?

Benediction:

Move among us, Spirit,
and gather us together with you.
Take our many selves—
our lives, our loves, our ideas,
our questions, our speech, our silence—
and unite us as your people.
Give us the gifts of presence, transformation and guidance,
so that even as we dream your dreams and see your visions,
we may be able to witness to your presence
in our common life.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.—(2 Corinthians 13:14)

Amen.
