Call To Worship

Worship:

Come Thou Fount

Come Thou fount of every blessing
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace
Streams of mercy never ceasing
Call for songs of loudest praise

Teach me some melodious sonnet
Sung by flaming tongues above
Praise the mount, I'm fixed upon it
Mount of Thy redeeming love

Here I raise my Ebenezer
Here by Thy great help I've come
And I hope by Thy good pleasure
Safely to arrive at home

Jesus sought me when a stranger
Wandering from the fold of God
He to rescue me from danger
Interposed His precious blood

Oh, to grace how great a debtor
Daily I'm constrained to be
Let Thy goodness like a fetter
Bind my wandering heart to Thee

Prone to wander, Lord I feel it
Prone to leave the God I love
Here's my heart, oh take and seal it
Seal it for Thy courts above

Be Thou My Vision

Be Thou my Vision O Lord of my heart

Naught be all else to me save that thou art

Thou my best though by day or by night

Waking or sleeping Thy presence my light

Be Thou My Wisdom and Thou my true word

I ever with Thee and Thou with me Lord

Thou my great Gather I Thy true son

Thou in me dwelling and I with thee one

Riches I heed not nor Man’s empty praise

Thou mine inheritance now and always

Thou and Thou only first in my heart

High King of Heaven my treasure thou art

Be my compassion my love for the poor

Break my distraction so I can’t ignore

The least of your children the ones you adore

For by them Jesus I worship you Lord

All Creatures Of Our God & King

All creatures of our God and king
Lift up your voices and with us sing
Alleluia, alleluia
Thou burning with golden beam
Thou silver moon with softer gleam
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia,

Thou rushing wind that art so strong
Ye clouds that sail in heavâ??n a long
Alleluia, alleluia
Thou rising morn in praise rejoice
Ye light of evening find a voice
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia,

Thou flowing water pure and clear
Make music for thy Lord to hear
Alleluia, alleluia
Thou fire so masterful and bright
That gives to man both warmth and light
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia, alleluia,

Teaching: “The Way of Humility”

  • When you think of humility, what and who comes to mind for you?

  • What does Meek mean?

  • How does the world typically believe that they will inherit the earth?

  • Why do you think Jesus says that the humble, gentle, and mild will inherit the earth?

Matthew 5:3

“Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”

Matthew 5:5

“Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.”

Matthew 18:1-5

1 “At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me.”

2 Corinthians 12:8

“my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in your weakness.”

1 John 4:12

“…but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.”

Mark 10:35-45

35 Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him. “Teacher,” they said, “we want you to do for us whatever we ask.”

36 “What do you want me to do for you?” he asked.

37 They replied, “Let one of us sit at your right and the other at your left in your glory.”

38 “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said. “Can you drink the cupI drink or be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?”

39 “We can,” they answered.

Jesus said to them, “You will drink the cup I drink and be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with, 40 but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared.”

41 When the ten heard about this, they became indignant with James and John. 42 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 43 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Mark 10:13-16

13 People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. 14 When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 15 Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” 16 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.

Communion:

  • How do you live out the “Way of Humility?”

    • In your schedule?

    • with your friends and family?

    • at work or school?

  • How will you acknowledge your need for Jesus this week?

Benediction:

May you follow in the footsteps of Jesus,

May you be the hands of him who touched the sick,

The feet of him who walked among the lowly,

The arms of him who embraced the despised,

And the mouth of him who proclaimed liberty for all.

The Lord bless you and keep you;

the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;

the Lord lift up his face upon you and give you peace.

—Numbers 6:24–26
