Zechariah 9:9-10

Rejoice greatly, O daughter Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you; triumphant and victorious is he, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey 10 He will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the war horse from Jerusalem and the battle bow shall be cut off, and he shall command peace to the nations; his dominion shall be from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth.

Behold

We believe in the story that God is reigning in your life, tonight
That He is a God who makes all things new, all things

The empty filled, the wounded heal
The broken back together
The poor are blessed, the weary rest
We will dance forever

The blinded see, the chained are free
The doubtful now believer
The outcast known, the orphan home
You are my Redeemer

Behold, behold, behold
What love can do
Behold, behold
He’s making all things new

The lost return, the voiceless heard
The mourner now rejoicing
The mountains shake, the world awake
Creation all composing

The sad untrue, the earth renewed
The song has found its singer
The darkness lie, the dead alive
You are my Redeemer

Behold, behold, behold
What love can do
Behold, behold
He’s making all things new

Behold, behold, behold
What love can do
Behold, behold
He’s making all things new

And we’ve been struck down
We’re not destroyed
We’ve sown in tears
We’ll reap in joy

We’ve been struck down
We’re not destroyed
We’ve sown in tears
We’ll reap in joy

My eyes are open
My eyes are open, now

Behold what love can do, yeah

Behold, behold, behold
What love can do
Behold, behold
He’s making all things new

Behold, behold, behold
What love can do
Behold, behold
He’s making all things new

He’s making all things new
He’s making all things new

I am Not God

VERSE 1
There are answers that I do not have
There are choices that I cannot make
There are limits to what I can give
There are limits to what I can take
There are forces that I can’t control
There are factors that I cannot see
There’s a future that I do not know
There is truth beyond what I believe

CHORUS
I am not God
Oh what a sweet relief
I am not God
It’s not riding on me
I am not God
The world isn’t in my hands
I am not God

VERSE 2
There is someone
who can heal your wounds
There is someone who can set you free
There is someone who can make you new
There is someone and it isn’t me

CHORUS

BRIDGE
I am…
A sign in the desert
A mouth with a message
A broken reflection
An evergreen tree
A mute that is talking
A lame woman walking
A widow who won’t stop knocking
An image I’ll be
But …

We Give You Thanks

Thy Kingdom Come

Naked I entered and I will depart
All that is given is a gift from God
There is no telling where this river flows
Stop fighting it baby, lean back and float
Out on the corner of devotion and despair
If I’ve gone missing, you might find me there
He still takes a walk when the evening’s cool
And I am the garden that he wanders through
We’re the one creature he chose to name
“I’m not what you made me,” who am I to say
“It is what it is” has been my song
But it’s turning into “thy kingdom come”

I know how to curse the path I tread
When will I learn to bless it all instead
To open my arms and kiss the face
Of my own life as it comes my way
I can still hear your voice echoing
“Blessed is he who’s not offended by me”
“It is what it is” has been my song
But it’s turning into “thy kingdom come”

Hey, what can I do?
I have no choice but to follow you
I have no voice but to call on you
But to call on you

Am I safe now?
Are you gonna push me till I break down?
Are you gonna give me what it takes now?
What it takes now?

Teaching

Matthew 21:1-17

21 When they had come near Jerusalem and had reached Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, 2 saying to them, “Go into the village ahead of you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied and a colt with her; untie them and bring them to me. 3 If anyone says anything to you, just say this, ‘The Lord needs them.’ And he will send them immediately.” 4 This took place to fulfill what had been spoken through the prophet:

“Tell the daughter of Zion,

Look, your king is coming to you,

humble and mounted on a donkey,

and on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”

6 The disciples went and did as Jesus had directed them; 7 they brought the donkey and the colt and put their cloaks on them, and he sat on them. 8 A very large crowd[b] spread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9 The crowds that went ahead of him and that followed were shouting,

“Hosanna to the Son of David!

Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!

Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

10 When he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was in turmoil, asking, “Who is this?” 11 The crowds were saying, “This is the prophet Jesus from Nazareth in Galilee.”

12 Then Jesus entered the temple[c] and drove out all who were selling and buying in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves. 13 He said to them, “It is written,

‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’

but you are making it a den of robbers.”

14 The blind and the lame came to him in the temple, and he cured them. 15 But when the chief priests and the scribes saw the amazing things that he did and heard[d] the children crying out in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David,” they became angry 16 and said to him, “Do you hear what these are saying?” Jesus said to them, “Yes; have you never read,

‘Out of the mouths of infants and nursing babies

you have prepared praise for yourself’?”

17 He left them, went out of the city to Bethany, and spent the night there.

Zechariah 9:9

“Rejoice greatly, O Daughter Zion! Shout aloud, O Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you; humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.”

Zechariah 9:10

“He will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the war horse from Jerusalem; and the battle bow shall be cut off, and he shall command peace to the nations; his dominion shall be from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth.”

Isaiah 2:3-5

“For out of Zion shall go forth instruction and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.4 He shall judge between the nations and shall arbitrate for many peoples; they shall beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation; neither shall they learn war any more.”

Jeremiah 7:1-15

“The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2 Stand in the gate of the Lord’s house, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the Lord, all you people of Judah, you who enter these gates to worship the Lord. 3 Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Amend your ways and your doings, and let me dwell with youin this place. 4 Do not trust in these deceptive words: “This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord.”

5 For if you truly amend your ways and your doings, if you truly act justly one with another, 6 if you do not oppress the alien, the orphan, and the widow or shed innocent blood in this place, and if you do not go after other gods to your own hurt, 7 then I will dwell with you in this place, in the land that I gave to your ancestors forever and ever.

8 Here you are, trusting in deceptive words to no avail. 9 Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, make offerings to Baal, and go after other gods that you have not known 10 and then come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, “We are safe!”—only to go on doing all these abominations? 11 Has this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your sight? I, too, am watching, says the Lord. 12 Go now to my place that was in Shiloh, where I made my name dwell at first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel. 13 And now, because you have done all these things, says the Lord, and when I spoke to you persistently, you did not listen, and when I called you, you did not answer, 14 therefore I will do to the house that is called by my name, in which you trust, and to the place that I gave to you and to your ancestors just what I did to Shiloh. 15 And I will cast you out of my sight, just as I cast out all your kinsfolk, all the offspring of Ephraim.”

Ephesians 2:13-16

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 For he is our peace; in his flesh he has made both into one and has broken down thedividing wall (Soreg Wall), that is, the hostility between us, 15abolishing the law with its commandments and ordinances, that he might create in himself one new humanity in place of the two, thus making peace, 16 and might reconcile both to God in one body through the cross, thus putting to death that hostility through it.”

Psalm 8:2

“You have set your glory above the heavens. Out of the mouths of babe you have founded a fortress because of your foes, to silence the enemy and the avenger.”

Communion Liturgy

Bread:

We thank you, our Father, for the life and wisdom revealed to us through your Son, Jesus, the Passover Lamb.

Free us and sanctify us by your Spirit.

Gather your Church from the ends of the earth into your kingdom, just as this bread, once scattered seed, has been gathered into one.

To you be the glory and the power through Jesus Christ forever.

Cup:

We thank you, our Father, for the holy grapevine of David, which you made known to us through your Son, Jesus, Christ the King.

Free and sanctify us by your Spirit.

As we partake of this, we remember him and participate in his death and resurrection life.

To you be the glory and the power through Jesus Christ forever.

Benediction

May the God of the Exodus and the Advent continue to make His presence known in your life.

As we navigate this journey of Becoming God’s People may we be strengthened to deepen our trust in Jesus who is the fulfillment of deliverance into abundant life with God.

May we go forth into our neighborhoods with intentionality and justice. Seeking, through prayer and service, the goodness of others and the renewal of all things.

And may the glorious presence of God, who dwelt in the Tabernacle and now dwells with us through the Spirit, be our constant companion, as He promised: "I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

“Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21)
