Call to Worship

Daniel 4: 27, 36-37

27 Therefore, O king, may my counsel be acceptable to you: atone for your sins with righteousness and your iniquities with mercy to the oppressed, so that your prosperity may be prolonged.”

36 At that time my reason returned to me, and my majesty and splendor were restored to me for the glory of my kingdom. My counselors and my lords sought me out, I was reestablished over my kingdom, and still more greatness was added to me. 37 Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and extol and honor the King of heaven, for all his works are truth, and his ways are justice he is able to bring low those who walk in pride.

Songs

All My Days- Psalm 23

Walk me by the quiet waters
Lay me down in Your green pastures
Be my shepherd, be my comfort in the valleys low
Lead me on the path that's narrow
Guide me through the darkest shadow
I will fear no evil, You are with me where I go

You're here, You prepare a table before me
You're here in the presence of my deepest pain
You're here and my cup is overflowing
'Cause all Your goodness and Your mercy follow me

All of my days, oh-oh, oh
All of my days, oh-oh, oh

Walk me by the quiet waters
Lay me down in Your green pastures
Be my shepherd, be my comfort in the valleys low
Lead me on the path that's narrow
Guide me through the darkest shadow
I will fear no evil, You are with me where I go

You're here, You prepare a table before me
You're here in the presence of my deepest pain
You're here and my cup is overflowing
'Cause all Your goodness and Your mercy follow me

All of my days, oh-oh, oh
All of my days, oh-oh, oh

I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever
I won't want because You, You're my good shepherd
You restore my soul and my cup is overflowing
I will never walk alone for You are with me

All of my days, oh-oh, oh
All of my days, oh-oh, oh
All of my days, oh-oh, oh
All of my days, oh-oh, oh
All of my days

Where Can I Go- Psalm 139

Lord you have searched me and know me
You know when I sit and when I rise
You know when I go out
You know when I lay down at night

You're familiar with all of my ways, Lord
Before a word is ever on my tongue
You know it completely, Oh Lord
You hem me in both behind and before
It's too wonderful

Where can I go from your spirit
Where can I flee from your presence
If I go up to the heavens you are there
If I make my bed in the depths you are there
If I rise on the wings of the dawn
If I settle on the far side of the sea
Even there your hand will guide me
Even there your hand will guide me
Your right hand will hold me fast
Your right hand will hold me fast

If I say "Surely the darkness will hide me"
And the light become night all around me
Even then the darkness will not be dark to you
Yeah the night it will shine like the daytime
For the darkness is as light to you
For you created my inmost being
Knit together in my mother's womb
It's too wonderful

Where can I go from your spirit
Where can I flee from your presence
If I go up to the heavens you are there
If I make my bed in the depths you are there
If I rise on the wings of the dawn
If I settle on the far side of the sea
Even there your hand will guide me
Even there your hand will guide me
Your right hand will hold me fast
Your right hand will hold me fast

Where can I go from your spirit
Where can I flee from your presence
If I go up to the heavens you are there
If I make my bed in the depths you are there
If I rise on the wings of the dawn
If I settle on the far side of the sea
Even there your hand will guide me
Even there your hand will guide me
Your right hand will hold me fast
Your right hand will hold me fast
Your hand will hold me fast

Come All Who Are Weary

[Verse 1]
Come all who are weary
I will give you rest
Come all who are striving
Lean upon my breast

For my yoke is easy
And my burden light
O come all who are weary, come

[Verse 2]
Come all who are wounded
Crying out “How long?”
Come all who are waiting
For the break of dawn

Darkness will not hide me
Forever from your sight
O come all who are wounded, come

[Verse 3]
Come all who are weeping
All whose hope is gone
Come all who are silent
All who’ve lost their song

Your every tear is numbered
Your every sorrow known
O come all who are weeping, come

[Close]
O come all who are weary
Wounded and weeping
All of God’s children, come

Daniel 4:19-27

Daniel Interprets the Second Dream

19 Then Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, was severely distressed for a while. His thoughts terrified him. The king said, “Belteshazzar, do not let the dream or the interpretation terrify you.” Belteshazzar answered, “My lord, may the dream be for those who hate you and its interpretation for your enemies!* 20 The tree that you saw, which grew great and strong so that its top reached to heaven and was visible to the whole earth,* 21 whose foliage was beautiful and its fruit abundant, and which provided food for all, under which animals of the field lived and in whose branches the birds of the air had nests—22 it is you, O king! You have grown great and strong. Your greatness has increased and reaches to heaven, and your sovereignty to the ends of the earth.* 23 And whereas the king saw a holy watcher coming down from heaven and saying, ‘Cut down the tree and destroy it, but leave its stump and roots in the ground, with a band of iron and bronze, in the grass of the field, and let him be bathed with the dew of heaven, and let his lot be with the animals of the field, until seven times pass over him’*—24 this is the interpretation, O king, and it is a decree of the Most High that has come upon my lord the king: 25 You shall be driven away from human society, and your dwelling shall be with the wild animals. You shall be made to eat grass like oxen, you shall be bathed with the dew of heaven, and seven times shall pass over you, until you have learned that the Most High has sovereignty over the kingdom of mortals and gives it to whom he will.* 26 As it was commanded to leave the stump and roots of the tree, your kingdom shall be reestablished for you from the time that you learn that Heaven is sovereign.* 27 Therefore, O king, may my counsel be acceptable to you: atone forr your sins with righteousness and your iniquities with mercy to the oppressed, so that your prosperity may be prolonged.”*

Benediction:

As we live as exiles in the world,

may we work for the welfare of our city,

lifting all things to God in prayer.

While we may encounter trials and tribulations,

let us remember who we belong to and where our faith lies.

Living lives allegiant to Jesus,

obedient to his ways,

and hopeful for his renewal of all things.

“Now to him who is able to keep you from falling

and to make you stand without blemish

in the presence of his glory with rejoicing,

to the only God our Savior,

through Jesus Christ our Lord,

be glory, majesty, power, and authority,

before all time and now and forever. Amen.” (Jude 1:24-25)
