Teaching: “What If Jesus Was Serious: Sharing Faith”

What is Evangelism?

  1. Greek Euangelion means “Good News”

  2. Was used in both Religious & Non-Religious contexts in the ancient world

  1. "Winsome"

    1. describes a person that is charming, pleasing, or attractive in a gentle and appealing way. A winsome person has an endearing quality that draws others to them. It often implies a combination of attractiveness, friendliness, and a warm, inviting demeanor.

  2. Proverbs 15:1 “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”

  3. Proverbs 25:15 "Through patience a ruler can be persuaded, and a gentle tongue can break a bone."

  4. James 3:17-18, "But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness."

  5. Galatians 5:22-23, "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."

  9. 1 Peter 3:15-16,but in your hearts sanctify Christ as Lord. Always be ready to make your defense to anyone who demands from you an accounting for the hope that is in you, 16 yet do it with gentleness and respect.”

  10. 3 Things to know when sharing faith

    1. Knowing the story of Jesus.

    2. Knowing your story with Jesus.

    3. Knowing the story of the people around you.

Communion:

  • What does winsome engagement in people’s lives look like to you?

  • When have you “missed the mark” of winsome relationships?

  • What can Sharing Faith look like in YOUR life?

Benediction:

Our Father in heaven,

May your name be revered as holy.

May your kingdom come.

May your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.

And do not bring us to the time of trial, but rescue us from the evil one.

May the strength of God pilot us;

May the wisdom of God instruct us,

May the hand of God protect us,

May the word of God direct us.

Be always ours this day and for evermore.

Amen
